Welcome to John Telfer Ltd, Blacksmiths and Engineers based in the Scottish Borders town of Hawick and covering the Borders, Edinburgh and Lothian areas.

John Telfer blacksmiths was founded in 1872 by William Telfer and the company has been in the same family for 5 generations. Originally operating from a small workshop in Hawick complete with the traditional blacksmiths forge and bellows.

More recently we have moved to a purpose built workshop and office in Hawick. We have also seen a steady growth in our workforce with a fully trained labour force and team of operatives accredited through the CSCS registration system. During this time we have invested heavily in the latest machinery including computerised band saw, iron worker and mig welders.

At John Telfer we are specialists in balustrades and all types of stair and metal railings, chain link and security fencing, driveway gates, disabled ramps and fire escapes.
